

With profound sorrow we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Sarah DeFrancis. Sarah passed peacefully while surrounded by her family, at Renaissance North Tampa, Florida, where she resided for the past 6 years.
Born in Manhattan, NY, she was one of five siblings. Sarah was the beloved wife of Antonio DeFrancis, who passed away in August 2010. Mother of Cliff (Lorraine), Ilyne (Tony), Sharon (Bob), and Tracy (Dale), Grandmother of Jennifer (Dan), Jessica (Anthony), Sarah, and Christian, as well as Great Grandmother of Sam and Willa.
Sarah loved helping others. She was proud to have obtained her LPN and spent time caring for the elderly and adolescent-aged children.
Sarah was an avid Yankee fan, she enjoyed going to games as a young girl with her father. Her love of the Yankees continued throughout her life, even taking in preseason games while living in Tampa, FL. She was a lover of many sports, including Tennis, Football, and Basketball. Sarah loved playing cards and Mahjong and was a true lover of music and dance. Up until her last days she continued to exercise her love of fashion and accessories, dressing each day expressing her unique style and sass.
Sarah embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, a deep belief in her Catholic faith, and an unending generosity that was seen through her care of friends and family.
To know Sarah was to know that her greatest joy in life was watching her children and grandchildren’s milestones and accolades.
Sarah will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Renaissance North Tampa, Tampa, FL on Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 2:00–4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home - Metuchen, 568 Middlesex Avenue (Route 27,) Metuchen, NJ, 08840, from 3:30 – 7:30pm with a Service at 7:00pm.
