FITZGERALD, Shirley Marie (Van Wagner), 80, of Tampa passed away on June 26, 2016. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Donald. She is survived by her children, Laura Stockton of Oldsmar, Linda Sadowski and husband Peter of Tampa, and Daniel Fitzgerald of Tampa; grandchildren, Joseph and James Stockton, Taylor Fitzgerald, Jordan, Meghan, and Lauren Sadowski; and many friends. Born and raised in West Springfield, Massachusetts; Shirley graduated from West Springfield High School, Class of 1952, Pro Merito Society and she was captain of the ladies basketball team. She was the office manager for Monarch Insurance Co, a legal secretary for many years in Athens, GA, the office manager for Swett and Crawford in Atlanta and the manager for S.E. Index Bureau in Atlanta. Shirley retired to the Tampa Bay area 20 years ago. She enjoyed spending time with the OWLS (Older, Wiser, Livelier Seniors) and the Senior Stars of Town and Country. She was a member of St. Mark Episcopal Church. Shirley loved life and her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 12pm on Thursday, June 30 at the Blount & Curry, Oldsmar/West Hillsborough Chapel, 6802 Silvermill Dr, Tampa. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation in Shirley’s memory.
