Soledad “Choling” Oliquiano Napuli returned to her heavenly home on August 26, 2016. As a testament of God’s grace and comfort, her family was present at her side. Soledad was born on November 4, 1930 in Guinobatan, Albay, Philippines, to Angelo Oliquiano and Irene Orolfo. She was a long time resident of Tampa. In the Philippines, one of Choling’s first jobs was working on the Bicol Express Train. She then became one of the original operators at the Republic Telephone Company. After marrying Alfredo and moving to the United States, she was a dedicated Navy wife for 20 years, enduring multiple long-term deployments and duty station moves to San Diego, Great Lakes, D.C., Norfolk and Tampa, all while raising three kids and working full-time for General Electric, Ball Glass Company, Johnson & Johnson and Equifax. Choling was a member of the Philippine Choral Group of Tampa Bay, the Bicol Association of Southern Florida, Kaliwat Bolanon Sa Florida and Santo Nino De Cebu. Choling is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Alfredo Maceda Napuli; son, Frederick Oliquiano Napuli and his wife Kim; daughters: Chona Napuli Bojo and her husband Joey; Dinah Napuli Ferrantelli and her husband David; and nine grandchildren: Erica Napuli, Madeline Napuli, Christina Bojo, Daniel Bojo, Ava Bojo, Vincenzo Ferrantelli, Marisa Ferrantelli, Gino Ferrantelli, and Isabella Ferrantelli; and her sister Felicitas Oliquiano Jaucian of Parañaque City Philippines. Choling dedicated her life to supporting her husband, raising her children and loving her family to her last days. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and faithful devotion to the Lord, will never be forgotten. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Choling always cared for family and friends through her hospitality and delicious cooking. A woman of faith and the heart of the Napuli family, Choling shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example, and also through various Catholic Charismatic prayer groups and activities. With a real zest for life, Choling loved to dance, sing, chat with friends and family, and especially share stories of her grandchildren … just to name a few. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms. From Heaven, Choling continues to watch over her family and inspire others by her extraordinary example.
