Stephen is survived by his wife, Joanna, and their sons, Max and Simon; his brother, Ernie, his wife Sasha, and their daughters, Eliana and Karissa; and his sister, Tara.
Stephen was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey on November 15, 1968, to Ernest and Constance Segundo. He graduated from Stratford High School in Houston, Texas, and then from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1991. During his military service he was stationed at Fort Ord, CA, Fort Lewis, WA, Cuba and Korea, attaining the rank of captain in the U.S. Army.
Following his service, Stephen built a successful and wide-ranging career, working with Wurts in Seattle and Strome in Los Angeles, before starting his own firm, Segundo and Company in Santa Monica, California. In 2002, he relocated to Tampa, where he founded Private Wealth Group, LLC, and ultimately LoanHive, LLC, reflecting his sharp intellect and entrepreneurial spirit.
Stephen met Joanna in Los Angeles in a martial arts class — and, true to form, they had been sparring ever since. They moved to Tampa, where they married in 2003 and built a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose. Together they welcomed their sons, Max and Simon, who along with Joanna were the center of Stephen’s world.
Stephen lived with remarkable energy and curiosity. He had a constant desire to learn and explore new ideas. Embedded in the Tampa community, he served on the Board of Fellows of the University of Tampa and was proud to be a long-term member of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla. He trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, earning his blue belt along with his sons through discipline and perseverance. Whether in business, sport or friendship, Stephen brought intensity, loyalty, humor and heart.
