

Born on November 5, 1940, in the Dominican Republic, Zacarias carried with him a deep sense of humility, resilience, and generosity throughout his life. He later became a proud naturalized citizen of the United States and made his homes in Methuen and Tampa, where he built a life centered around family, hard work, and service to others.
Zacarias is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Altagracia Gutierrez, whose partnership and devotion were the foundation of their family. He also leaves behind his five loving children: Manuel Zacarias Gutierrez, Ydelba Nava, Elizabeth Gutierrez, Damaris Gutierrez, and Ruth Gutierrez and his siblings Jesus Arias, Genciana Arias, and Cecilia Rodriguez.
He was a proud grandfather to Giovannie Nava, Veronica Nava, William Zacarias Matos, Ydania Gutierrez, Leilani Ruiz, and Manuel Gutierrez, and a cherished great-grandfather to Gina Rojas, Mia Wedge, Vida Wedge, Nina Nava, and Juni Nava.
As a young man in the Dominican Republic, Zacarias was known throughout his community for his athletic talent and love of baseball. A gifted pitcher and third baseman, he proudly played for the Piratas del Yaque, earning admiration and respect from all who watched him play. Before immigrating to the United States, he worked as an electrician for the local power company, carrying the same dedication and integrity into his profession that he brought to every aspect of his life.
More than anything, Zacarias will be remembered for the kind of man he was. He was compassionate, dependable, and endlessly generous with his time, wisdom, and resources. He opened his home to others, offered help without hesitation, and treated neighbors and strangers alike with warmth and dignity. He was the type of man people trusted, admired, and felt fortunate to know.
His legacy will live on through the lives of all those he touched with his generosity of spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering love for family and community.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial gathering will be held at Gonzalez Funeral Home, 7209 North Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, FL 33614, US, on May 16, 2026, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm with burial to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 11005 US-301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592, US, on May 16, 2026 at 2:00 pm.
