Caryl Anderson

Caryl Anderson, age 93, of Killeen died Friday, October 2, 2009 at her residence. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 10 at Covenant Lutheran Church in Temple with Pastor Terry Atkins officiating. Family visitation will begin at 12: 30 PM prior to the service. Mrs. Anderson was born on September 7, 1916 in Centerville, South Dakota to Alfred and Sara (Stephenson) Thorson where she was reared and educated. She married Verdell Anderson on April 13, 1940 in Hollywood, California. She worked at J. C. Penney in Sheldon, Iowa for 13 years. She worked in fabric stores in Irving, Texas for many years. In 1985 they moved to Temple. She and her husband were active members of St. Paul Lutheran in Sheldon, Holy Trinity Lutheran in Irving and Covenant Lutheran Church in Temple. She had been a resident of The Rosewood Assisted Living Center in Killeen for the past six years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Raymond Thorson and two sisters, AlDonna Baker and Joyce Hahn. Survivors include one son, Gary Anderson of Venice, Florida, one daughter, Gayle Lakin of Copperas Cove, one brother, Clifford Thorson of Phoenix, Arizona and two sisters, Marilyn Berg of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Bonnie Rarick of San Diego, California. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Steven Anderson of Burlington, Vermont, Scott Anderson of West Hartford, Connecticut, Angela Kirkpatrick of Copperas Cove and Stephanie Bond of Bangs, seven great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Richard, Raegan, Sydnie, Joseph, Benjamin and Sara.
