Connell Jay Hodges is one of the Hodges quintuplets born on March 24th, 2017. The Lord called Connell home on February 6th, 2018 while Connell rested in the familiar, gentle arms of his parents, and in the company of his loved ones. Immediately upon his birth, Connell was completely immersed in the love and care of his parents, brothers and sister, extended family, and Jesus Christ. Throughout his life, Connell experienced patience, love, and strength through the example of his parents, and the outpouring of support from family and friends. While Connell is best known for his incredible fighting spirit, his beaming, contagious smile is the most powerful demonstration of a child filled with joy and surrounded by love. For his playful heart and gentle, warm spirit, those closest to Connell knew him as their “Connell-bug.”Connell’s name means, prophetically, “strong as a wolf,” and Connell has inspired all who knew him with his strength and courage. Known as ‘Baby B’ in his mother’s womb, Connell faced tremendous physical challenges, including an underdeveloped stomach, and the lack of a spleen, which allowed spinal meningitis to infect him. Despite these challenges, his parents know that Connell was wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14.Connell is survived by his fiercely loving parents, Daniel and Elizabeth, brothers Rowan, Liam, Dillon, Nolan, and sister Teagan, grandparents Steve, Donna, Kelley and Bill, and aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom are grateful to have known and experienced happiness with him. Though devastated by his passing, Connell’s family remains faithful in Jesus Christ and inspired by Connell’s legacy of joy in adversity. Daniel and Liz praise the Lord that Connell knew a world of love, joy, patience, togetherness, and faith in Jesus.Connell’s parents will provide a viewing on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Vista Community Church, also in Temple. Memorial contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to Ronald McDonald House.
