

Daniel Brooks Ray, 87, of Temple died Wednesday at his home. Memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Belton Wednesday August 10, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Andy Davis officiating. Burial will be at the Carson Cemetery in Bonham. Mr. Ray was born December 25, 1923 in Wuchow, China to Rex and Janet Gilman Ray. He was a graduate of Bonham High School in 1942 and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. After the war he graduated from Baylor University in 1950 and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1953. He married Frances Jean Deal on June 27, 1953 in Waller, TX. Mr. Ray served as a Foreign Missionary in South Korea from 1953 to 1992, retiring from the International Mission Board to Garland, Texas and being a resident of Temple since 2005. Being an ordained minister he had memberships at First Baptist Church of Bonham, TX, Southern Baptist Missionary to Korea, First Baptist Church of Richardson, TX, and First Baptist Church of Belton, TX. Mr. Ray was Business Manager and treasurer of the Macau, China Baptist Mission and Hong Kong International Board. Survivors include his wife Frances Deal Ray of Temple; one daughter, Leajean Goodson of Redding, CA; four sons, Mark Ray of Adelaide, S. Australia, Ben Ray of Temple, Andrew Ray of Sadler, TX, and Rex Ray of Hibbing, MN; one sister, Lois McKenzie of Cameron, NC; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a brother, David F. Ray and a sister, Mary Dee Dobson. Memorials may be made to the International Mission Board of SBC, P.O.
