David M. Mayfield, Jr., age 91 of Buckholts, died Monday, September 24, 2012 at his residence. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 27 at Holland Cemetery with Rev. Billy Ray Crow officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mr. Mayfield was born on December 20, 1920 in Cuero to David M. and Veva Mewhinney Mayfield. He was a graduate of Navasota High School and attended Texas A&M. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Forces during WWII where he taught airplane mechanics. He was a farmer and rancher most all of his life. He raised registered Hereford cattle. He was a Baptist. He was survived by his wife, Mary E. Rice Mayfield and one son, Thomas Blakley both of Buckholts.
