Born on June 28, 1930, in Rogers, Texas, Derl was the son of Douglas and Gertrude (Rawlings) Warren. A proud veteran, he served four years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Pursuit, a minesweeper, during a time of great change and challenge for our country.
Following his military service, Derl dedicated his career to the Civil Service at Fort Hood, where he worked as an HVAC technician until his retirement in 1985.
Derl was a man of faith and a devoted member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Temple. He found joy and purpose in service to others, most notably as the longest-serving volunteer at CTLC (Churches Touching Lives for Christ), where his steady presence made a lasting impact on the community.
A lifelong lover of baseball, Derl not only played the game but also shared his passion by coaching numerous junior league teams, shaping young lives through sport, leadership, and mentorship.
Above all, Derl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Dolores Warren; his parents, Douglas and Gertrude Warren; and his son-in-law, Mike Bramlett.
He is survived by his three daughters: Sharon Goldman and husband Mark of Temple; Susan Bramlett of Temple; and Cindy Holloway and husband Bobby of Belton. Derl was blessed with nine grandchildren—Melanie, Kyle, Allison, Casey, Stephen, Greg, Geoff, Ryan, and Raquel—and 21 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.
A burial with military honors will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, Texas.
