
Donald Lee Ewing, age 71 of Llano, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at a Temple, Texas hospital. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Saturday February 18, 2012 with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Llano, Texas with Father Melvin Dornak officiating and assisted by Deacon George Lillard. A reception with the family will follow at the parish hall. Mr. Ewing was born on July 27, 1940 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Donald G. and Vera Brown Ewing. He attended schools in Amherst, Texas and graduated from Amherst High School. Don attended junior college in Levelland and was a photographer for the school newspaper. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, was stationed in Altus, Oklahoma and was honorably discharged after 4 years of service as an Air Policeman. Don married Sylvia Harris on November 1, 1971 in Corsicana, Texas. Don had a screen and window repair business when he lived in the panhandle of Texas and later moved to Llano where he continued doing home repairs. He was well known for his photographic skills, he loved gardening and he also loved his cats. Don was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Llano Fine Arts Guild and Gallery. Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Sylvia Ewing of Llano; a brother, Earl Ray Ewing and wife Janie of Yantis, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Memorials may be given in Don's name to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, P.O. Box 698, Llano, Texas 78643 or to the American Cancer Society.
