

Donald James (Chappy) Gibson, age 68 of Temple, died Sunday, December 17, 2017 in a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 22nd at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Chaplain David Cody Franz officiating. Mr. Gibson was born on August 23rd, 1949 in Meridian, Mississippi to Sam and Christine Gibson. Chappy joined the Marine Corps in June of 1967 and served in the Vietnam War. After being injured and returning home, he ventured into a few different occupations. He served in law enforcement, VP of Goldman Enterprises and most notably he was founder of Chaplain Fellowship Ministries, to which he has trained, ordained and endorsed over 1800 Chaplains throughout the world. This ministry was his passion and has helped countless people over the years. Chappy was also a Free Mason since December 9th, 1982. He was a very loving brother, husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Tina Gibson whom married on May 25th, 1975, one son, Don Gibson II and wife, Chasitity of Hendersonville, North Carolina and two daughters, Donna Marwick and husband, Vic of Australia and Shannon Hess and husband, Todd of Temple and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Judy Messer of Temple and Lola Malmin of Troy and one brother, William Harvey Scott of Selma, North Carolina.
