
Dorothy E. (Dot) Watts, age 97 of Temple, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 6, 2017 in Temple. Services will be held at 10:00am Thursday, March 9th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Chet Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00pm Wednesday, March 8th at the funeral home. Dot was born on Dec. 30, 1919 at Moffat, Bell County, TX to John and Lou Ella (Roper) Grimes. They lived at Owl Creek, Cedar Creek and The Grove before she turned 16. She married John W. Watts on Dec. 24, 1938. As an adult, she lived in Temple and Little River. She was a valued member of Oak Park (formerly 7th Street) United Methodist Church since 1949. She was an officer and active member of both Order of the Eastern Star (since 1955) and Beauceant (since 1956). Dot and John enjoyed many camping trips around the country, but especially to the Rio Grande Valley, Colorado, Alaska, and Arkansas, eventually she visited all 50 states. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, O. L. Grimes and three sisters, Violet Epperson, Mable Martin and Francis Wall. Survivors include two sons, Wallace Watts and wife, Jean of Flat and Bruce Watts and wife, Diana of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Wade Watts and wife, Mary of Zapata, Michael Watts of California, Lori Volney and husband, John of Dallas, Gil Gonzales of DFW and Darnel Kiaha of San Antonio, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Vashti Chapter #32 OES or charity of choice.
