Dorothy was born on October 14, 1950, in Mexia, Texas, the daughter of Joe Earl Morgan Sr. and Bennie Mae (Posey) Morgan. A 1969 graduate of Mexia High School, she went on to build a long and dedicated career with Southwestern Bell (AT&T). After retiring, she continued serving her community as an employee of the Scott & White Northside Clinic.
Dorothy was a woman of strong faith and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Moffat, as well as a former member of Grace Church in Salado. She lived her faith daily through kindness, loyalty, and a warm spirit that touched everyone she met.
She enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies, especially quilting, traveling, and especially enjoyed her trip to Maui—one of her favorite places. Dorothy loved going just about anywhere, and really enjoyed her trips with her sisters. Creative at heart, she liked decorating cakes and cookies, and she was a devoted animal lover, with a special fondness for her cats. Above all, she was deeply dedicated to her husband, Don, who preceded her in death.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Ray Elliott; her parents, Joe Earl Morgan, Sr. and Bennie Mae Morgan; her siblings, Joe Earl Morgan Jr., Bro Morgan, Billy Morgan, and Mary Morgan Geiger; and her nieces and nephews Mary Catherine Morgan, Bubba Morgan, and Jaime Morgan.
She is survived by her sisters, Lanelle Morgan Hack and husband Lynn, and Vicki Morgan Sandifer and husband James; her stepson, Donnie Elliott and wife Vanessa; and nieces and nephews Lisa Morgan Reichel, Laura Morgan O’Brien, Bobby Morgan, Wayne Morgan, Lynn Geiger, Melanie Corpman, Kimberly Hack Bartnick, Danny Hack, Traci Kennedy, and Alexis Lea Birkenheuer. She is also survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends. Additionally, Dorothy leaves behind her step-grandchildren Dalton Elliott, Shelby Elliott Karnowski, and Sophie Elliott, and her step–great-grandson Benjamin Elliott.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Moffat, Texas. Burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery in Robinson, Texas.
Dorothy will be remembered for her gentle heart, her joyful spirit, and her unwavering love for family, faith, and life itself. She will be deeply missed.
