Dorothy Mae Newman

Dorothy Mae Newman, age 83, of Belfalls, TX passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at a local care center. She was born on January 29, 1932 in Lorena, TX the daughter of Willie Young and Jewell Philpot. Dorothy was a member of the Oenaville Baptist Church. She really enjoyed dancing and could be found most Sunday evenings dancing and listening to music at Sefcik Hall. Also in her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crafts, and solving crossword puzzles. Dorothy is survived by her husband Charles E. Newman of Belfalls, children; Michael and wife Hazel Pitts of Lorena, Gary Pitts of Belton, Trish and husband Glenn Powell of Belfalls, Edith and husband Dale Durham of Alpena, AR, and Terry and wife Dana Pitts of Morgan's Point, step-children; Billy Joe and wife Kim Newman of Troy, Charles Ray and wife Kay Newman of Troy, and Micky and wife Karen Newman of Belton, 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Margaret Thornton of Memphis, TN, Betty Jo Mayo of Olive Branch, MS, and Cynthia Pacha of Holland, TX. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Frances Kessner and Lillie Moore, and a granddaughter Jennifer Pitts. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM at Oenaville Baptist Church in Oenaville followed by an interment at Belfalls Cemetery. www.scanioharperfuneralhome.com
