
Douglas Beck, 86, of Temple died Saturday in a local hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Ranjan Cletus and Monsignor Elmer Holtman officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Mr. Beck was born August 11, 1927 in Westphalia, Texas to Henry and Irene Witcher Beck. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army. Douglas married Aileen Hollas on July 6, 1950 in Cameron, Texas. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 3444 for over 60 years. Visitation will be held 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Monday with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mr. Beck was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold and Curtis Beck and two sisters, Lillian Beck and Ruth Schuetze. Survivors include his wife, Aileen Beck of Temple; son, Gary Beck and wife Ruth of Moffat; daughter, Carol Taylor and husband Don of Temple; brother, Otis Beck of Little River/Academy; sister, Nell Thomas of Killeen; four grandchildren, Jennifer Barnes, Shannon Halterman, Kelly Beck, and Kory Beck; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.
