

Dr. William H. Harding, Jr. of McKinney, Texas, formerly of Temple, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016, in McKinney, TX. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with a rosary to be said at 7:00PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Corn Hill, TX followed by burial at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Dr. Harding was born on August 2, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA the son of William, Sr. and Hazel Harding. He graduated with a double major in Mathematics and Physics from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA. He received a Masters in Experimental Physics and a Doctorate in Mathematical Physics from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Harding went on to teach at Drexel University in Philadelphia and Villanova University in Villanova, PA. In 1991 he joined the faculty of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where he served as the Chairman of the Math and Physics Dept. for more than 20 years retiring in May of 2013. During his tenure he received many grants and awards and was the senior author of A Nuclear Regulatory Commission Study which defines a mathematical process for estimating environmental radiation impact from a nuclear power plant. He is survived by his wife Susan of McKinney, TX, son William H. Harding, III and his wife Leighann of Fairview Village, PA, daughter Kelly Meyer and her husband Scott of McKinney, TX, 9 grandchildren; Aaron, Samuel, Anna, and Jesse Harding and Evan, Sydney, Natalie, Ethan, and Elliot Meyer. He is also survived by his brother retired Col. Kenneth W. Harding and his wife Sandy of Rindge, N.H. He was preceded in death by his parents William Sr. and Hazel.
