

Edderd E. (Ed) Childers, age 83, of Temple died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at his residence. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 31 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Minister Gene Greer officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Childers was born on March 26, 1928 in Mississippi. He graduated from Nettleton (MS) High School. He was a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama and had lived in Temple for the past 18 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was an insurance salesman for most of his life and an avid pool player. He was a member of Heidenheimer Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Danny Eugene Childers and a grandson, Sam Doggett. Survivors include four daughters, Charlotte Webb and husband, Jamie Webb of Farmersville, Beverly Doggett and husband, David Doggett of Mobile, Alabama, Sharon Childers Tomlinson and Karon Reese and husband, Bobby Reese of Temple and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Bell Childers of Brandon, Florida. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Andrea Almanza and Lauren Webb both of Farmersville, Michael Doggett of Mobile, Alabama, Alicia Tomlinson Ray and husband, Mark Ray II of Silverdale, Washington, Brandon Howard and wife, Misty Howard of Florence, Bonnie Farr and husband, Brandon Farr of Temple, Terri Reese Harper and husband, Jeff Harper of Fort Worth, Bobby Reese and wife, Katrina Reese of Buda, John Tomlinson and wife, Misty Tomlinson of Keller, Patrick Childers and wife, Geri Childers of Wesley Chapel, Florida and Scott Childers of Brandon, Florida, 15 great-grandchildren and his special friend and companion, Peggy Kinard of Hillsboro.
