Elizabeth Fly Thorburn

Elizabeth Fly Thorburn, age 79, of Temple passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at her home in Temple. She was born on February 8, 1938 in Goose Creek, Texas the daughter of Circey Lee and Hilda Katherine Fly. A visitation will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. at Heights Baptist Church 1220 S. 49th St. Temple, Texas 76504 with Rev. Tom Henderson officiating. Elizabeth was a 1956 graduate of Temple High School, has been a member of Heights Baptist since 1959 where she sang in the Golden Heights Choir, and also spent many an hour volunteering for the church. On November 8th, 1956 she married Robert “Bo” Thorburn and the two have just celebrated 60 years of marriage. Elizabeth is survived by her husband Bo of Temple, daughters; Karen McGregor and husband Chris of Temple, Kathy Thorburn of Temple, and Terry Jones and husband Scott of White Lake, Michigan, a son Guy Thorburn and wife Becky of Temple, grandchildren; Brandy Kopriva and husband Justin of Temple, Kristin McGregor and fiancée Bobby Brignola of Los Angeles, Justin Jones and wife Nicki of Michigan, Nicky Jones of Michigan, Kristy Locey and husband James of Michigan, and David Thorburn of Temple, and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Melton Fly and wife Sally of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents Circey and Hilda Fly. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Lottie Moon Offering C/O Heights Baptist Church 1220 S. 49th St. Temple, Texas would be appreciated.
