Floyd Ray Shorty Owens

Floyd Ray "Shorty" Owens Sept. 12, 1931 - Nov. 30, 2009 Floyd Ray "Shorty" Owens, of Temple, Texas passed away at a local hospital, Monday, November 30, 2009 after a long battle with heart disease. He was born to James Arnold Owens Sr. & Jewell Faye Hampton in Tolar, Texas on September 12, 1931. He was a proud veteran of the US Army having enlisted March 23, 1951. His family and friends will all remember him most threw countless stories and memories of how "Shorty" lived his life to it's fullest extent and did or said what he darn well pleased. Floyd Ray is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bobby Jean Owens, James Arnold Owens, Jr., & Harold Dean Owens; & one son Lawrence Keith Owens. He is survived by his wife, Biff Owens of Temple; two daughters, Carol Cerney & husband Fred of Taft and Cathy Hughes of Taft; son, Lathe' H. Owens of Temple. Three grandchildren, Kim Fergel, Steven Williams, & Shannon Williams; seven great-grandchildren; Andrea Fergel, Bret Fergel, Jordan Williams, Lexie Williams, Kaylee Williams, Hunter Williams, & Haden Williams; five brothers, Burl& Erma Lee Owens of Abilene, Texas, Don & Kacky Owens of Fruitvale, Texas, Mack Owens of Abilene, Texas, Jerry Owens of Lebanon, Tennessee, & Frank & Glenda Owens of Clyde, Texas; two sisters, Lavoy Williams of Oplin, Texas and Jodie Owens of Henrietta, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Vera Owens of Oplin, Texas and Mary Owens of Redding, California; numerous other relatives and life long friends.
