

Frances Florence Lancaster, age 98 of Temple, went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully in the early morning of Monday, August 28, 2017 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 1st at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Dr. Ron Milne officiating. Burial will follow at Roberts Cemetery in Troy. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, August 31st at the funeral home. Mrs. Lancaster was born on December 25, 1918 to Lee Ashton Gilliam and Sarah Florence Daniel Gilliam in a small town northeast of Temple. She married Aubrey Wilson Lancaster on February 5, 1938. He preceded her in death November 14, 2007. They lived in the Temple area where she was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she taught an Adult Sunday School Class, worked with the Vacation Bible School for many years and also served as a Youth Camp Sponsor for numerous years. Frances was a homemaker who loved to cook amazing meals for her family and friends. She was also considered an artist as she loved to paint. She loved her family and loved having the final say and one of her famous quotes “If God is with us, who can be against us?” She loved her friends and her church and even her dedicated pew. She was also preceded in death by her father and mother and stepmother Margaret McGinnis Gilliam as well as four brothers, Jack Gilliam of Santa Fe, NM, Prentice Gilliam of Yuma, AZ, Luther Curtis (Bud) Gilliam of Temple and Don Gilliam of Clute, three sisters, Louise Turknett of San Antonio, Emma Mae Bartek of Temple and Geraldine (Dean) Huddleston of Manor. She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Lancaster and Dottie Foshee and husband Jerry, two grandchildren, Darren Foshee and wife Melissa, Shelli Walker and husband Craig, three great-grandchildren, Jakob Russell, Miranda Hill and Aubrey Walker all of Temple. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Collins of Temple and brother, Andy Gilliam of Huntsville.Pallbearers are Darren Foshee, Craig Walker, Richard Gilliam, Ray Reed, Ray Huddleston, Dan Huddleston, Chuck Turknett and Scott Lankford.
