Frances Marie Palasota died April 10, 2018 at a Temple nursing home. She was 101 years young. Ms. Palasota was born August 1, 1916 to Veto and Veta Spata. She lived in Temple all her life, and she graduated from Temple High School in 1935. She owned and operated the Ramona Courts from the 1930’s until today. Being a block from the old Scott and White Hospital, she saw Temple transition from a small town to what it currently is today. Motel guests with dignitaries from the President of Mexico, President Lyndon B. Johnson’s Mother, brother, and family, General Andrew Bruce, an early movie star, and many others. This was a time when very few women owned and operated their own businesses, and she managed and worked her businesses for over 55 years. After Scott and White moved to their current location on 31st street road, she started a telephone answering service. She answered for every doctor, lawyer, contractor, politician, and business leader in Central Texas. She answered for Western Union and they placed their equipment and franchise in her front office. She answered for Xerox when no one knew what a copy machine was. She started with the first copier in Temple, and opened a Xerox copy service in her front office as well. She was well like, well respected, and did a lot of good for a lot of people. She was preceded in death by her brothers Tom Spata and Joe Spata. Survivors include her son Jimmy Palasota Jr. of Dallas; grandson Jimmy Palasota III of Dallas; granddaughters Lydia Palasota of Little Rock, Arkansas and Natalie Palasota of Venice Beach, California. Nana loved her grandchildren dearly. The family would like to thank Dale Stough and Chiquana Brown with Heart of Texas Hospice, and the many other caretakers and friends for their kindness and loving support. We would also like to especially thank Diane Saluda and Alberto Garcia for their compassion and dedication to Ms. Palasota. They continue to help make her businesses positive and successful today. They are the “priceless ingredient”. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday April 14, 2018 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Sauser officiating. Burial will be private.
