

Fred Arthur Braun was born August 24, 1915 in Bartlett, Tx to Adolf and Eliese Braun. He died peacefully at his home at the age of 93 on March 26, 2009, after a bout with cancer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bartlett, He married Johnie Joe Dugger in 1937. She preceded him in death in 2003. They moved to Waco in 1942 and joined First Lutherana Church in Waco, where Fred taught a young adult's Sunday School class for over 30 years. They were members there until 1979, when Fred retired from the Post Office and they moved to Belton and joined First Lutheran Church in Temple. Fred was a choir member wherever he worshipped. He attended Bartlett Public Schools, Temple College and Southwestern University in Georgetown. He began his postal career in Bartlett in 1938 and retired as an administrator with the Waco Post Office in 1979. He and Johnie moved moved to the country home of their dreams in Belton in 1979, where they both enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, growing and grafting pecan trees and raising sheep. He was his neighborhood "god-will ambassador," riding around on his golf cart to visit or lend a hand whenever he could. Fred is survived by two children, Dick Braun and his wife Sue of Bluff Dale, Tx and Dianne Rowton and hr husband Jimmy of Belton. He is also survived by one sister, Edna Knauth of Bartlett, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Chris Rowton, Paul Wooden, Wiley Dugger, David Bentley, Russ Grant and Billy Brice. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Brice, Dennis Braun, Tommy Braun, Kim Janke and Brce Stokes. Scanio Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
