

George E. Coleman, 78, of Temple, Texas passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009. Rosary will be Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 7:00 pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple. Memorial service will Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Temple. George was born February 23, 1931 to Edward Wilson Coleman and Kathryne Cannon Coleman of Opelika, AL. He was a graduate of Clift High School in Opelika, AL. and a graduate of University of Auburn where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Social Fraternity. He also served 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Sorensen of Ada, MN in 1954 at the Naval Air Station, Barbers Point Oahu, Hawaii. He retired after 37 years with Western Auto Supply Company as a Wholesale Sales Manager. He attended St. Luke's Catholic Church and was an active member of Knights of Columbus Council #7197 and the Fourth Degree Assembly #1138. Survivors include his wife, of Temple; two daughters, Ida Hicks and husband Jim of Moody, Texas and Brenda Tuck and husband David of Belton, Texas; a sister, Betty Forrest Coleman of Dothan, AL; a brother, John W. Coleman and wife Penny of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, William Mahan and wife Jody of Morgans Point and Carla Kimberlin of Temple; and three great grandchildren, Rachel Mahan, Tyler Kimberlin, and Trever Kimberlin; 4 step grandchildren, Jessica Massengale and husband Sean, Jeffery Tuck and wife Kema, Jacklyn Tuck, and Jeromy Tuck and wife Dana; 6 step great grandchildren, Alexa, Cole, Kaitlyn, Warren, Japheth, and Jeffery. Memorials may be made to St. Luke Catholic Church, 2807 Oakdale Dr., Temple, Texas 76502 or to one's favorite charity.
