

Glenn Lynn Odstrcil, age 84, of Temple, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, surrounded by family at a local hospital. A visitation will be held Sunday, November 12 from 3 PM to 5 PM at Scanio Harper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Scanio Harper Funeral Home, on Monday, November 13 at 10 am, with Dr. Mark Labaj officiating. Burial will follow at Seaton Cemetery.
Glenn was born on April 29, 1939 to Johnnie Joe and Velma Nedbalek Odstrcil in Cyclone. He attended Temple High School where he participated in football. After graduation, he attended Temple Junior College. He later married Janet Fay Mikulas on February 6, 1960 at Seaton Brethren Church and made their first home in Belton.
He began his career working part-time as a cabinet maker and then moved to Houston to work at Igloo. He later returned to Temple and began working at Wilsonart, where he remained for 45 years. During his tenure at Wilsonart, he held various managerial duties, led many production projects, and built his legacy with the development and construction of the textured plate plant, earning him the designation of several patents.
He was a member of Temple Brethren Church and his hobbies included woodworking, hunting, fishing, traveling, daily drives to his farm, gambling, supporting his grand & great grandchildren in anything they participated in, watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, collecting sports memorabilia and watching old westerns. He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, where he served as president of the local chapter for many years.
He is survived by son, Kenneth Odstrcil and wife, Bridget, of Temple, daughter, Kathy Calhoun and husband, Tommy Jr. of Troy. Glenn had two granddaughters, Courtney Mačal and husband, Lawson, of Troy and Jennifer Lurati and husband, Angel of Troy, and five great-grandchildren, Liam and Layton Mačal and Raegan, Micah, and Taylor Lurati.
He is also survived by one brother, Kenneth Gene Odstrcil, and wife Delores of Temple.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janet, of 62 years, his parents, his in-laws, Jerry and Lillie Mikulas, his brother, Johnny Wayne Odstrcil, and sister, Jonlene Shortridge.
