

Gwen Burns, age 60, of Temple died Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in a local hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, October 10, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Temple with Rev. Don Loftin as celebrant. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Thursday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home Chapel with visitation to follow. Mrs. Burns was born October 1, 1948 in Cameron to Hubert Joseph and Lillie Marie (Hollas) Jistel. She graduated from Yoe High School in 1966. She had been a resident of Temple since 1969. She married Chapple Burns on August 8, 1993. She was employed as a payroll specialist at WilsonArt International in Temple for the past 20 years. She was a Catholic. Survivors include her husband, Chapple Burns of Temple, two sons, Brad Aaron of Temple, Jason Aaron and wife, Ashley of Leon Junction, two stepdaughters, Tina Morris and husband, Sam of Temple, Sharon Nichols and husband, James of Alexander, Arkansas and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Ethel Marak and husband, Johnny of Cameron, Janis Beach and husband, Gerald of Orange, Lucille Chupik and husband, Melvin of Temple, Carolyn Klecka and husband, Anton of Cameron and two brothers, Wayne Jistel and wife, Maureen of The Colony and Clyde Jistel and wife, Ila of Troy and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or charity of choice.
