J. Michael (Mike) Brumbelow, age 67 of Temple, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at his residence. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, August 11th at Bellwood Memorial Park with Chaplain Tamara Aquino officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mr. Brumbelow was born December 15, 1949 in Temple to James H. and Mary F. Brumbelow. He attended Temple High School. He married Debbie Byrd on September 7, 1972. He was a retired mechanic. He loved drag racing and NASCAR as well as softball with his daughters. He was inducted into the CTYSA Walk of Fame in 2014. He coached softball for more than 20 years and was president of CTYSA for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Janice Hackney. Survivors include his wife, Debbie Brumbelow of Temple, two daughters, Heather Castleman and husband, Chuck of Fort Worth and Christi Kantro and husband, Dane of Temple and three grandchildren, Shelby, Lyndsey and Michael Kantro. Also surviving is one stepbrother, Cliff Vasek and wife, Joyce of Temple. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Belton Youth Softball Association or Belton Youth Baseball Association.
