
Funeral services for Jack Douglas Haney, 89, of Temple, will be held Tuesday June 16, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Boatwright officiating. Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park. Mr. Haney died Saturday in a Temple Living Center. Mr. Haney was born March 30, 1926 in Coleman to Ira Elbert Haney and Eva May Smith Haney. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Alpha Rutherford October 23, 1946. She preceded him in death April 12, 1996. He married Belva Scott May 31, 1997 in Belton. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad as a brakeman, conductor and switchman for forty years having retired in 1987. He lived in Sweetwater before moving to Temple. He was a fifty year member of United Transportation Union. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Academy, where he was a deacon and American Legion Post 133. Survivors include his wife Belva Haney of Temple; daughter Barbara Bentle of Sweetwater; son Paul Haney of Heidenheimer; step son Rickey Scott of Moffat, step daughters Debra Scott of Academy and Gwyn Casavant of Heidenheimer; two grandchildren and eight step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
