James Burt

James Burt, age 77, of Temple died Monday, January 31, 2011 in a local nursing center. Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 4 at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Minister Warren King officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mr. Burt was born on January 17, 1934 in Nacogdoches to Ted R. and Sarah Jane Burt. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He married Alta Sue Hagood on September 1, 1955. She preceded him in death on March 7, 2008. He was retired from DuPont Chemical Company where he was employed for many years. He was a member of Leon Valley Church of Christ. He is survived by his son, James Kyle Burt of Round Rock, two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Bass of Fort Worth and Margaret Qualls of Claremore, Oklahoma and a brother-in-law, Charles Hagood of Lake Kiowa. Also surviving are three nieces, Sharon Swindle of Fort Worth, Kim Owens of Lewisville, Debbie Lewis of Ames, Iowa, two nephews, Randy Qualls of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Chuck Hagood of Hamsville, Washington and his special friend, Judy Freeman of Mexia. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
