

Janice Lee Mangum, age 65 of Temple, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 in a local hospital. Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, July 8, at Western Hills Church of Christ with Ministers Scott Meyer and Loyd Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery near Troy. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Sunday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Janice was born in Texas City, Texas on August 6, 1947 to James M. and Birdie Stephens. She graduated from Texas City High School in 1965 and earned her Bachelors Degree in Accounting from University of Houston. Janice retired from Temple College last August after 33 years in the Business office. From childhood, She was a member of the 7th St. Church of Christ in Texas City, later at the League City Church of Christ, and has been a faithful member of the Western Hills Church of Christ since 1979. Janice taught children's Bible School classes for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Richard & Ethel Oliver of Troy. She is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, John F. Mangum of Temple, loving daughter Jennifer Lynne Mize and husband Jonathan, and her beloved grandchildren, Audrey and Keller Mize all of Hewitt; her sister and husband, Melva Nell Ellermann and Charlie of Bayou Vista; niece and husband Sharon Sue Chandler and John of Houston; nephews and wives Charles Stephen Ellermann and Holly of Pearland and Gary Lee Ellermann and Rose Ann also from Houston. She is also survived by niece Cynthia Barber of Manhattan KS, and nephews Patrick Barber and wife Sandy of Austin, and Ray Barber and wife Heidi of Copperas Cove. Janice was a loving aunt to great nieces & nephews: Charles Jr. & Peyton Ellermann, Alexis & Leah Ellermann, Brandon & Cole Chandler, and Emily Barber. She is also survived by her Uncle and Aunt Billy Joe and Betty Oliver of Temple along with over 20 first cousins and their children & grandchildren. The family sends their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at Scott & White Hospital for their care and support.
