Janis Ann Frazier Fry

Janis Frazier Fry, 68, passed away on Saturday morning, November 14, 2009, at her Temple home after a courageous six and a half-year battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Vincent officiating. Janis was born on July 5, 1941 in Brownwood to Marvin and Lucile (Flaherty) Frazier. She graduated from Brownwood High School and received two bachelor's degrees from Howard Payne University in Bible Studies and Executive Secretarial Management. Shortly after graduating, she married James (Jim) H. Fry and lived in Andrews for 15 years before moving to Temple. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Janis retired from Wilson Art International in 2003 after 15 years of service in the role of administrative assistant to several vice presidents in the finance department. Retirement renewed her passion for life and family. She used this new chapter in her life for family, travel, nature and wildlife photography. During her sickness, she pursued life and friendships with greater passion and purpose. Janis and Jim traveled to Europe, India, China, Thailand, Laos, Burma, Taiwan, Africa, New Zealand and Australia in recent years and had even booked three new trips this year including a cruise through the Panama Canal for the fall. While travel and photography were her hobbies, family was her true passion. Her granddaughter, Harper, was Grammy's pride and joy. Janis' two daughters, Jazan and Jill, was her best friends and never more than a short drive or phone call away. The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the doctors, oncology nurses, hospice staff and expert team of professionals at Scott & White and the Glenda Tanner Vasicek Cancer Treatment Center for their exceptional treatment, support and love during Janis' final years. They served as living angels on Earth. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jim Fry, two sisters, Celia Huddler of Fort Worth and Janie Stewart of Stephenville, two daughters, Jill Fry of Austin and Jazan Powell and husband, Barry and granddaughter, Harper Powell all of Dallas; and her beloved dogs and constant companions Pee Wee, Mitzi and Millie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the Glenda Tanner Vasicek Cancer Treatment Center at Scott & White Hospital or the Scott, Sherwood and Brindley Foundation, 2408 South 31st Street, Temple, Texas 76508.
