
Jay Wayne Gibson, 86, of Temple died Friday, June 18, 2010 in The Arbor House in Temple. Services for Mr. Gibson will be held Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Ministers Loyd Hall and James LeFan officiating. Burial with Navy honors will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple. Mr. Gibson was born March 20, 1924 in Erick, Oklahoma the son of Carley and Lenna Frost Gibson. He was an Aviation Machinist Mate 3rd Class in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a 1949 graduate of Oklahoma State University. He married the former Mary Jo Hansford July 6, 1951 in Madill, Oklahoma and would have been married 59 years on July 6, 2010. He moved to Temple January 1, 1958 and worked 32 years for American Desk Manufacturing Company, retiring as Vice President of International Sales. He was a member of Western Hills Church of Christ of Temple. At age 80 he was baptized into the faith by Minister Lloyd Hall. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Gibson of Temple; three daughters, Teresa Ree Gibson Ibarra and husband, Jay Daniel Ibarra III of San Antonio, Laura Jayne Gibson Rowton and husband Billy B. Rowton of Temple, and Kandee Jo Gibson Bruening and husband, Gerald Philip Bruening of Madison, Connecticut. He is survived by a brother, Waymon C. Gibson of Miami, Oklahoma and a sister, Sheila Kistler of Seminole, Oklahoma. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Jessica Ibarra Press and husband, Ryan Eugene Press of San Antonio, two great-granddaughters, Jolie Paige Press of San Antonio and Jacey Claire Press of San Antonio, one great-grandson, Jax Ryan Press of San Antonio, and two grandsons, J. D. Ibarra, IV and wife, Leslie Ibarra of San Antonio, and William Jay Matush and wife Samatha Foster Matush of Richardson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Teresa Wester and two brothers, Clarence Gibson and Charles Gibson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the charity of the donor's choice. A visitation will be held from 4:00-5:30 p.m., Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
