Jimmy Dale Howell, age 75, of Troy, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at his home in Troy. He was born on October 15, 1948 in Haskell, Texas the son of Norman E. and Claudia Irene (Collins) Howell.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas 76504.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 2:00pm at the funeral home followed by a burial at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
Jim loved the cowboy way of life, raised cattle, and enjoyed working cattle on horseback. He did this while working as ranch manager of Hilliard Ranch for 40 plus years. He also worked as the service manager for Dan Steakley Chevrolet from 1965 – 1980, was a current member of Resurrection Fellowship Church in Holland, and former member of 3C Cowboy Church in Salado. Jim was inducted into the Bell County Cowboy and Cowgirl Ring of Honor in 2005 and in 2006 he became president. He played a huge roll in getting funding and securing a location to display all of the Cowboy and Cowgirl Ring of Honor inductees. Jim loved being with friends and family and was known as "Pops" to his grandkids and friends. Jim welcomed any and all into his home. He and his late wife Connie raised their grandson Vincent, and Jim devoted his life to making Vincent the man he is today.
He is survived by a daughter Tina Eaton, 8 grandchildren, Brandon Walker, Vincent Eaton, Ashby Eaton, Hunter Eaton, Zander Eaton, Logan Eaton, Amanda Eaton, and Bradlyn Eaton. He is also survived by a brother Jackie Howell and wife Sue of Temple.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Connie, children, Brad Eaton, Bobby Eaton, and Theresa Eaton, and grandchildren, Garrett Eaton and Wyatt Coker.
In lieu of flowers memorials to Resurrection Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 308 Temple, Texas 76503 would be appreciated.
