

Johnny Vasek, age 70 of Temple, died Friday, October 25, 2013 at his residence. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 29, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Ray Crow officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Seaton Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Vasek was born January 5, 1943 in Temple to Emil and Verlie Talas Vasek. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1961. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during the Vietnam War. He married Patricia Ann Harper on July 12, 1969. He retired as a postal clerk from the U. S. Postal Service in Belton. He was a member of Ocker Brethren Church, Elks Lodge #138 in Temple where he had served as a chaplain and V.F.W. Post #4008 in Belton. Survivors include his wife, Pat Vasek of Temple, one son, Jon Vasek and wife, Katie of Belton, one daughter, Gina Guthrie and husband, Lynn of Ratibor, four grandchildren and six step grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Shirley Snow and husband, Shirley of Temple, Naomi Wilde of Pasadena and one brother, James Vasek of Heidenheimer.
