Julia Estero Fernandez

Julia Estero Fernandez, age 83 of Temple, died Saturday, November 23, 2019 at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Monday, December 2, 2019 at St. Luke Catholic Church with Rev. John Guzaldo as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at St. Luke Catholic Church Columbarium. Vigil service and recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00pm Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the church.

Mrs. Fernandez was born on October 30, 1936 in San Jacinto, Pangasinan, Philippines to Cesario Estero and Demetria Sangalang, the oldest of five children. She married Pablo Fernandez, her longtime penpal on January 2, 1963 in Manila. She moved to the United States and has been a resident of Temple for 15 years. Mrs. Fernandez was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pablo Fernandez; her parents; her brother, Jose Estero; sisters Imelda Estero and Angelita Escasa; her brother-in-law, Delfin Boniog; and her best friend,  Beatriz Paje.

Survivors include her sons, Franklin Fernandez and wife Carolyn of Temple, Frederick Fernandez of Temple and Floyd Fernandez and wife Grace of Baltimore, MD; a sister, Nenita Boniog of Hawaii; her sister-in-law, Voluciana Estero of The Philippines; her brother-in-law, Antonio Escasa of Temple; her grandchildren, Alexandra, Erika and Keith Xavier of Temple; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and her dog, Ripley.
