

Julie Pelzel Zaleski, age 99, passed away on February 8, 2011 at Temple Living CenterWestern Hills in Temple, Texas. Julie was born on October 26, 1911 at Barclay, Texas to Henry Pelzel and Anna Schmid Pelzel. She married Jim Zaleski on January 14, 1937 in Temple. They farmed in the Bell County area most of their lives, with Troy being their home since 1950. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Temple. She was an avid quilter,gardener and a wonderful cook. She enjoyed watching football, especially the Cowboys, and loved playing Dominoes and Bingo. Most importantly she loved visiting with her family and friends, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Julie is survived by sons James Zaleski, Maurice Zaleski and wife Karen, Louis Zaleski;daughters Jeanette Flinn and husband Dalton, Betty Lamb and husband Mac, Margie Kveton; her grandchildren Kassia Jamison and husband Marc, Kelli Smith and husband Chris, Terry Flinn, Brent Zaleski, Steven Flinn, Colin Gaido and husband Chris,Kristen Zaleski, Melanie Pierson and husband Blake, and Nick Kveton. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren: Amber, Sydney and Will Jamison, Brandon Zaleski, Jacob Smith, Carson and Addison Gaido, and Olivia Pierson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anna Pelzel, husband Jim Zaleski,brothers Alois, Fritz, Henry, Joseph, Hans, Ben and Edward, sisters Mary Dreyer, Freda Ballard, Rosie Hering and Annie Fuchs. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 6-8 pm, with Rosary at 7pm at Scanio Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Rd., Temple. Funeral services will be Friday, February 11, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1019 S. 9th St., Temple. Interment will follow at Bellwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Flinn, Brent Zaleski, Brandon Zaleski, Steven Flinn,Nick Kveton, Marc Jamison, Chris Smith, Chris Gaido and Blake Pierson. Memorial contributions may be made to St Mary's School Trust Fund.
