Kathryn M. (Kitty) Turner

Kathryn M. (Kitty) Turner, age 93 of Temple, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at her residence.  Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 10th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Chaplain Bruce Mercer officiating.  Private burial will be Saturday at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.  Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service.   Mrs. Turner was born November 12, 1923 in Lake Providence, Louisiana to William McRae Moore and Williame Key Moore.  She graduated from Lake Providence High School where she was valedictorian of the class of 1941.  She attended Ouachita University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas for two years and completed her education at Baylor University in Waco, receiving her BA degree in 1947.  She married J. Platt Turner, Jr. on October 14, 1947.  He preceded her in death January 27, 2016.  She and her husband were charter members of Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston, where they were residents for many years, and later members of First Baptist Church in Temple.   Survivors include two daughters, Mary K. Conner and husband, Jerry of Sugar Land and Martha Conley and husband, Bill of Canon City, Colorado, four grandchildren, Emily Ferrell and husband, Chase of Houston, Jonathan Conner and wife, MaryKate of Houston, Jessica Brunson of Fort Collins, Colorado and Rebecca Brunson of Colorado Springs, Colorado and three great-grandchildren, Conner Joseph Ferrell, Evie Kathryn Ferrell and Charlie Platt Ferrell.   Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Temple, Truett Seminary at Baylor University, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor or charity of choice.
