
Kenneth R. (Jim) Voss, age 83, of Belton died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship, 1726 Morgan's Point Road, Belton, Texas, at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2010 with Jean Kubala officiating. Mr. Voss was born on December 10, 1926 in Jonesboro, Texas to Harry Schloeman and Lenora (Carpenter) Voss. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1944 and Texas A&M University in 1950 with a B.S. degree in Agriculture. Jim served in the U. S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He married Marianne Woodson on December 22, 1951 at Camp Roberts, California. He worked for the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service as an Agricultural Economist in Texas, as Director of Water Resource Planning, Engineering and Water Resource Planning Unit in Lincoln, Nebraska and as Director of National Water Resource Policy in Washington, D.C. He retired in 1981. Mr. Voss was a member of the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship of Bell County, Twin Lakes Audubon Society, Nature Conservancy and Texas A&M Letterman's Club. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marianne W. Voss of Belton, one son, Karl W. Voss and wife, Trudi of Belton, two daughters, Mary Kim Grimes and husband, Steve of Hampton, Virginia, Susannah Marshall and husband, Ted of Temple and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Harry C. Voss and wife, Mary E. of Gatesville and Gary K. Voss of Bryan.
