
Leon Burrier, age 82 of Temple, died Friday, August 31, 2012 in a local hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, September 7, at St. Luke Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be at 1:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mr. Burrier was born June 23, 1930 in Loraine, Texas to Henry Milton Burrier and Stella Bell Brooks Burrier. He owned and operated L. B. Aluminum in Temple for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in Korea. He married Maxine Faykus on June 23, 2001. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7197 at St. Luke Catholic Church and Council #2766 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Belton. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Billy Frank Burrier of Belton. Survivors include his wife, Maxine Burrier of Temple, two sons, Lester Burrier of Melrose, Iowa and Kennith Burrier of Wright, Arkansas, two daughters, Brenda Smith and husband, Wayne of Tucker, Arkansas and Patty Thomas and husband, Kevin of Arkansas, eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Amy Vargas-Leon and husband, Isaiah of Bell County and Cristy Endicott and husband, Frank of Copperas Cove, three brothers-in-law, Alvin Faykus, Jr. and wife, Patty, Ralph Faykus of Taylor and Glenn Faykus and wife, Tennie of Austin.
