Ferman Leroy Gossett, age 88, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Temple, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Born on May 6, 1937, in Clovis, New Mexico, Leroy was the beloved son of the late Ferman Alton Gossett and Martha Verta Foreman.
A graduate of Clovis High School, Class of 1955, Leroy spent the early part of his life in Clovis before relocating with his family to Temple, Texas in 1971. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple, where his deep devotion to God and service to others shone brightly. Leroy played an instrumental role in launching and supporting the Operation Christmas Child ministry at Immanuel Baptist, a cause that remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Professionally, Leroy dedicated his career to the railroad industry, working first with the Santa Fe Railroad and later retiring as a locomotive engineer from BNSF Railway. His dedication and work ethic left a lasting legacy in the field he loved.
On November 8, 1958, Leroy married the love of his life, Georgia Janice Jester, in Clovis, NM. Together, they shared 66 beautiful years of marriage, rooted in love, faith, and family. Leroy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.
He is survived by his loving wife Georgia Gossett; daughters Cheryl Katrin Prickett of Noonan, Georgia, and Jana Lei Broberg of Freeport, Illinois; son Doug Gossett and wife Phyllis of Temple, Texas; and brother Joel David Gossett of San Angelo, Texas. He is also cherished by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.
A memorial service celebrating Leroy’s life will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Immanuel Baptist Church of Temple, officiated by Dr. Ron Milne. Interment will follow at Temple Garden of Memories Cemetery.
The family invites memorial contributions in Leroy's honor to Operation Christmas Child or the charity of your choice—a fitting tribute to a man whose life was marked by generosity, faith, and compassion.
