Lillie Vasek Brumbelow

Lillie Adamek Vasek Brumbelow born October 9, 1914, died on February 18, 2007, at Weston Inn Nursing Home, Temple Texas at the age of 92 years. Lillie was born in Ratibor, Bell County, Texas to Josef and Stephana Elles Adamek and attended school at Lost Prairie. She was a lifelong member of the Brethren Church. She was baptized at Ocker Brethren Church in 1914. She married Johnny Vasek on January 13, 1933 at Ocker. She became a member of Temple Brethren Church in 1989. Johnny and Lillie Farmed in the area until he died in 1954. They had one son, Clifton John Vasek. She married James Brumbelow in 1977, who preceded her in death on January 5, 1990. Lillie worked at Curtis Shoe Factory and Valet Laundry and Cleaners for several years until retiring in 1978. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. Lillie is survived by her son, Clifton Vasek and daughter in law, Joyce; one granddaughter Kimberly Ann and husband Ken Thigpen, three great granddaughters Katherine, Rachel and Jennifer Thigpen, three sisters, Georgia Doggett of Richmond, Texas Evelyn Wilcox of New Bedford, Massachussets, and Narcis Arledge of Weatherford, Texas, one brother Franklin Elles of Victoria, Texas, numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Adamek and Walter Adamek. Funeral arrangements are through Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Temple Brethren Church. Burial will be at Ocker Brethren Church Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to Temple Brethren Church. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2007 between 5:30 P.M. and 7:30 P.M. at Scanio Harper Funeral Home.
