
Memorial services for Major, U.S. Army retired, Charles Henry Buckley, Jr. will be held at Little River United Methodist Church on Monday July 29, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Bill Horick and Rev. Hubert Austin officiating. Major Buckley died Friday in a Temple Living Center. Major Buckley was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey to Charles Henry Buckley, Sr. and Agnes Veronica Bucele Buckley. He married Emma Vi O'Berg September 24, 1943. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and The Korean Conflict and retired in 1960. He received a degree in accounting from the University of Texas. He has been a resident of Little River and Temple since 1960. He had been a member of Little River United Methodist Church and was currently a member of First United Methodist Church in Temple. He was a Tax Consultant for Linzy and Thigpen Attorneys and he owned Buckley Pecan Farm and was a member of Bell County Pecan Growers Association and Texas Pecan Growers Association. He served on the Academy ISD School Board, Little River-Academy City Council and was a Director of Bell County WCID #2. Major Buckley was preceded in death by one grandchild. Survivors include his wife Vi Buckley of Temple; three sons Conrad Buckley of Deer Park, Bob Buckley of Little River-Academy and Jack Buckley of Spring; one sister Sarah Bozarth of South Carolina; five grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Charity of Choice. Scanio-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
