Manuela Jimenez

Manuela "Granny J." Jimenez 91 of Temple died Wednesday January 13, 2010 at her Temple residence. Services for Mrs. Jimenez will be held at 10AM Saturday January 16, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple with Father Tom Chamberlain and Father Florencio Rodriquez officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park Mrs. Jimenez was born February 2, 1918 in Alpine, Texas the daughter of Secundino and Guadalupe Oltiberoz Valdez. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Granny moved to Temple in 1953 to raise her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a housewife who loved to cook, share her wisdom, and adopt our friends as her own giving her the name "Granny J.". She donated many years to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She has 136 grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Navarro Jimenez and a daughter Joveta Cruz Lara. Other survivors include her children Wallace Jimenez, Susie Razo, Martina Torres, Mary June Williams, John Paul Jimenez, Dolores Babcock, Lucy Garcia and Joey Jimenez all of Temple. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Friday January 15, 2010 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home of Temple. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the building fund at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple.
