Marcia Lynn Sanders Wesson came into this world on September 22, 1954, the second child of Robert James Sanders and Dora Jean Crossland Sanders. She graced all who knew her with her sweet spirit and love for her family and friends until Monday, August 25, 2014, when she quietly stepped into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Marcia leaves behind many who love her, to include her brothers, Robert (Bobby) Sanders, Randall (Randy) Sanders, her daughter, Shelley Wesson Burton, son-in-law, Allen Burton, four grandchildren: Jessica Richardson, Abigail Richardson, Desteynie Richardson, and Johnathon (Bubba) Schutz; and many extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as many "adopted" young men and women who accepted the privilege of calling her Memaw. Marcia now rejoices in Heaven with loved ones who have gone before her, to include her parents, Robert James & Dora Jean Sanders and an infant sister, Cheryl Ann Sanders. Marcia is remembered with love and respect by those who faithfully served the Temple Fire & Rescue during her tenure as administrative assistant to the Fire Chief. Marcia retired in 2009 after 25 years with the City of Temple. She considered her fellow Fire Department co-workers as her "work family", and remained in close contact even after retirement. Marcia is remembered by all who knew her as a gentle and humble woman who loved life, her grandchildren, and her dogs. She fought the disease of cancer bravely, never worried for herself, but for her daughter, grandchildren and others who she knew were suffering the fear of being without her one day. Even toward the end of her days, she shared her desire with extended family that her daughter and grandchildren would be cared for and ministered to, especially during the fresh grief that would occur in her passing. Her faith carried her through the darkest days, expressing her firm belief that although she did not like the path of pain and disease, she knew with all her heart that God loved her, that He was in total control, and that He would make all things right in His own time. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Friday, August 29th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple with Dr. Tom Henderson officiating. Graveside service and burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research and Awareness.
