
OBITUARY Mrs. Margaret Lucille Burton Mrs. Margaret Lucille Burton, 91, of Temple died Friday May 12, 2006 in a Temple care center. Services for Mrs. Burton will be held Tuesday May 16, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. at Memorial Baptist Church in Temple with Rev. Roy Parker officiating. Burial with Eastern Star Rites will follow at Post Oak Cemetery near Holland, Texas. Mrs. Burton was born September 20, 1914 in Holland, Texas the daughter of David and Jimmie Drake Sinclair. She graduated from Holland Schools. She married Newton Burton in 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1978. She moved to Temple in 1942 and was a bookkeeper at the old National Laundry in Temple for many years. She was the last of 11 children eight brothers and two sisters all who have preceded her in death. She was a fifty year member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Temple having taught children's and primary Sunday school for many years. She was a long time member of the Church choir. She was a long time member of Vashti Chapter #32 Order of the Eastern Star and served in many different capacities including Secretary for fifty years. She also was a member of the Temple Study Club and was the director of Meals on Wheels for several years. She had been a member of the American Business Women's Association. Margaret had also been a volunteer to read to children at Raye Allen Elementary School for several years. Mrs. Burton is survived a number of nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. A family visitation will be held from 6 until 8 PM Monday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society 1311 North New Road Waco, Texas 76710. Or the Sr. Fellowship Center 2202 West Avenue D Temple, Texas 76504.
