

Marie Elizabeth King, age 100, a former longtime resident of Olney, Illinois died Monday, October 27, 2008 in a Belton nursing home. Funeral services and burial will be held in Olney at a later date. Mrs. King was born August 4, 1908 in Olney, Illinois to Jacob and Rosa Kaser. She lived in Olney until 2001 when she moved to Casey, Illinois and then to Park Place Manor in Belton two years ago. She married Glenn L. King on June 28, 1930 in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1975. She worked as a clerk and bookkeeper from 1924 to 1974 in Olney for several businesses and the county treasurer's and sheriff's offices. She had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Olney since 1919, the Elks Lodge and was an avid bridge player and St. Louis Cardinal fan. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Alfred Kaser and sisters, Martha Freeland and Gertrude Ross. She is survived by her son, Dick King and wife, Susan of Temple, four grandchildren, Steve King and wife, Charlotte of Novato, California, John King of Leander, Cindy Maulding and husband, Monty of Buda, Dina Contella and husband, Steve of League City and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Kathryn Mullen of Casey, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
