A graveside memorial service for Marie Waters Havelka, age 80 of Temple, will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, March 8th, at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mrs. Havelka passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 surrounded by family. She was born June 13, 1938 in Temple to Claude and Elender Waters. She grew up on the family dairy farm and graduated from Temple High School in 1956. She worked for the Soil Conservation Service and married U.D. Havelka on June 29, 1963 before becoming a homemaker for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Boyd Waters.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, U. D. Havelka of Temple, brother, C. D. Waters and wife, Jeanette of Temple, sister-in-law Fern Waters of Belton, two daughters, Patricia Havelka of Temple and Kim Gilkey and her husband, Patrick of Sugarland and one son, Danny Havelka and wife, Stacey of Tomball, and niece Brenda Waters of Austin. “Mimi” has six grandchildren – Sean, Kaitlin, and Kelsey Gilkey of Sugarland and Brandon, Kyle, and Nathan Havelka of Tomball.
