
Funeral services for Marvin (Boots) Mikes, 80, of Heidenheimer will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Parker officiating. Mr. Mikes died Tuesday in a Temple Nursing Center. Mr. Mikes was born April 1, 1931 in Leesville, Texas to Martin Mikes and Mary Werner Mikes. He served in the U.S. Army. He moved to the Temple, Oenaville, Heidenheimer area over 45 years ago from Luling. He married Mary Culp in 1954. She preceded him in death April 7, 1998. He married Sharon McCormick Feb. 14, 1999. He had been a truck driver in the oil fields for many years and worked for Plasclad in Temple as head of maintenance. He loved hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife Sharon Mikes of Heidenheimer; four sons Marvin Ray Mikes of Texas City, Virgil Mikes and his wife Kay of Ada, Oklahoma, Danny Mikes and his wife Amy of Temple and Bobby Mikes of San Angelo; two daughters Pam Cleghorn and her husband Russell of Paige and Cathy Abshire of Harwood, three stepchildren Sherry Miller and her husband David of Salado, Debbi Mayo and her husband James of Belton and Johnny Culp Jr.and his wife Jennifer of Temple; one brother Herman Mikesh of Luling, one sister Evelyn Stearns of Gonzales; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Oenaville Cemetery or to the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
