

Jeanne Allen, age 69 of Moody died Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Pastor Roger West officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00 PM Friday, October 14, 2011 at the funeral home. Mrs. Allen was born on December 3, 1941 in Chattanooga, TN to the late Vaughn and Nancy Dyer Hoge. She lived in Doyle, TN until the age of 8 and moved to Battle Creek, MI where she graduated from Lakeview High School. Jeanne moved to Texas in 1962. She married Charles E. Allen of Moody on September 12, 1959 in Battle Creek, MI. Jeanne worked for Western Auto Distribution Center for 11 years and retired from Belton ISD in 2006. She spent most of her adult life working with children, in Little League, tutoring, cooking classes, ag and sports. She was a den mother for Scouts and more recently began volunteering with life skills children and going to state finals with Special Olympics, which was very special to Jeanne. She loved reading, gardening and especially, working with children. Jeanne was a member of Eagle Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gregg Allen on November 5, 1999; and a sister, Elizabeth Callaway on October 10, 2003. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Charles E. Allen of Moody; a son, Colin Allen and wife Dana of Waco; two precious grandchildren, Savanah and Quacy Allen; a very wonderful step-mother, Mabel Hoge of Rainbow City, AL; brothers, James Hoge of Rainbow City, AL, Don Smith of Wasilla, AK and David Smith of Paw Paw, MI; sisters, Barbara Smith and husband Johnny of Danville, AL, Jannice Osborne and husband Steve of Rainbow City, AL and Nancy Willavize of Battle Creek, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jeanne's name to Eagle Springs Baptist Church, P.O. Box 71, McGregor, TX 76657
