
Mary Kathryn Wagner Brooks, 80, of Temple died Saturday, August 11, 2007 in Temple. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. J. Brent Eaton and Rev. Eddie Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Brooks was born December 7, 1926 in Temple to Frank Stevens and Kate Johnson Alsup Wagner. She was a graduate of Temple High School and received her bachelor degree from the University of Alabama. She married J. M. Brooks May 9, 1947 in Temple he died in 1984. She was a telephone and teletype operator for 30 years with the veteran's administration in Temple. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Colonial Dames 17th Century, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, district 5 representative, Alamo Committee 1977-1979, Chaplain General Chapter in 1975, President of Ben Milam Chapter, Magna Carta Dames, Plantagenet Society, Daughter of the American Colonists, and Royal Order of the Garter. Survivors include one son James Steven Brooks and wife Tammy of Temple and one brother Henry Fisher Wagner of Houston. Active pallbearers will be John Thomas, Jr., William Keith McEntire, Ray McEntire, Brad Hejl, Kevin Carroll, and Paul Cones. Honorary pallbearers will be John Thomas Sr., G. W. Elkins, and James K.
